The Region

The Region – Karpaz Peninsula

Mehmetcik, like most of the areas of North Eastern Cyprus is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The region offers some of the finest beaches in the whole of Cyprus and indeed some judge that the golden beaches of the Karpaz peninsular are amongst the finest in Europe if not the world. The clean clear waters that wash against the golden sandy beaches attract endangered species of green sea turtles that return every year to nest, so conservation and protection of the environment is of a high priority in this region. In addition there is an amazing diversification of wild life and migratory birds making your time spent here a truly unique experience.

The Village

In the heart of North Cyprus’s vine-growing region, the farming village of Mehmetcik is a friendly community mainly of Turkish Cypriot folk, but there are also a few Europeans who have found this gem in the Cyprus countryside. Mehmetcik is located in a prominent position looking North East to the beautiful Karpaz Peninsula, South West along the line of the mountains whilst the Mediterranean Sea is not far away to the North and South. Mehmetcik is perched in a prominent position allowing spectacular views. To the south it boasts stunning views out to sea, and to the opposite direction in the north, fabulous country and mountain views. The village also offers a good range of supermarkets, a bank, butchers and green grocers, all enough to cope with the requirements for day to day living.

The village itself is just a ten minute drive from the up and coming area of Bafra where up-market developments are taking place along the beautiful sandy coastline. The picturesque coastal village of Bogaz is just a 15 minute drive away with its good selection of restaurants and bars. The city of Famagusta is just a 35 minute drive away. Ercan airport can be reached in just under one hour. Other exciting developments are happening in this area with the new Karpaz Gate Marina being built just a 20 minute drive away and of course the natural beauty of the Karpaz peninsular itself. If you are looking for a home that offers a traditional lifestyle amongst friendly people in a beautiful corner of the world then look no further.
