Kayalar village

Travel half an hour on the coast road west of, and you will reach Kayalar  the area that some of the TRNC's most significant residents have chosen to make their home.

All property in Kayalar has space to breath. There are no ugly flats  and pretty much every property has its own swimming pool and garden shaded by fruit and olive trees.

At night, the skies are black. It is easy, with the naked eye, to see the planets and the satellites. There is no traffic noise, but it is not silent. The noise is of animals, the wind and the sea. There's also a wonderful shop in Kayalar village which means the essentials of life are within easy walking distance and also a selection resturants Kayalar's Secret Beach can't remain a secret for much longer, it is everything you could want from a beach. It is a cove, no deeper than a metre with a clean sandy floor and crystal clear waters. Incredibly, it is deserted - perhaps because pretty much everyone in the area has at least one swimming pool.


The Kyrenia, (Girne), area of Northern Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations for both holidaymakers and for those wishing to settle here. There is a wealth of European Heritage Sites spanning some 9,000 years of history, from Gothic churches and Crusader castles, to ancient Roman and Greek temples, ruined abbeys and old British colonial buildings. The Venetian built harbour in Kyrenia, reputed to be the finest in the Mediterranean, is lined with restaurants and pavement cafes. The harbour is currently used largely for pleasure craft, and the buildings are now mostly all restaurants, with outdoor tables along the water. At night, especially in the summer, the harbour is the place to be  There are many beaches and sandy coves scattered around the coast. Club Acapulco and Escape Beach Club have plenty to offer, both have bar/restaurant facilities, and the Turtle Beach at Alagadi brings visitors every year to witness the rare sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. The Korineum Golf and Country Club is just a short drive along the coast road
