The Region

Like most of the areas of North Eastern Cyprus, Bogaz is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The region offers some of the finest beaches in the whole of Cyprus and indeed some judge that the golden beaches of the Karpaz peninsular are amongst the finest in Europe if not the world. The clean clear waters that wash against the golden sandy beaches attract endangered species of green sea turtles that return every year to nest, so conservation and protection of the environment is of a high priority in this region. In addition there is an amazing diversification of wild life and migratory birds making your time spent here a truly unique experience. The ancient walled city of Famagusta, (Gazimagusa, picture on left), to the south contains numerous ruins from past civilizations as well as a vast selection of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. With a vibrant nightlife this fabulous city is a must for you to visit.

 

The Village

Once you have spent even just a short time in the area and village you will feel a real sense of community here, the locals, ex-pats and visitors make everyone welcome and everyone mixes well together, you will soon discover the local characters and feel perfectly at home drinking a Turkish coffee or a cool beer playing a game of Tavla and chatting to new found friends.

 

The beach is only a few minutes walk away and nearby there are some small secluded coves to discover and explore. The picturesque fishing harbour at Bogaz can be reached in a 15 minute stroll and local amenities are close by with a larger supermarket a 5 minute drive away. The nearby village of Iskele is a fair sized village where you will find shops of all kinds as well as the local post office and municipal buildings. At Bogaz harbour there are a number of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from or maybe just sit and sip a cool drink and see the fisherman go about their work and watch the world go by.  Famagusta can be reached in 20 minutes and a 30 minute drive will take you to the natural wonders and stunning beaches of the Karpaz region, not forgetting the magnificent Kantara Castle, which is only a 15 minute drive from the development, where you can see both coasts of the island and on a clear day the mountains of Turkey.
