The Village
The village of Yarkoy comes under the administration of the nearby larger village of Iskele. The village is very small with a collection of houses and farms. The centre has a mini market and the usual church and mosque but the nearby village of Iskele and the larger supermarket is only 2 miles away and open until 10pm. The picturesque harbour at Bogaz is only a mile and a half away so easily within walking distance. The area around Yarkoy, including Bogaztepe, Iskele and Bogaz contains a mixture of local Cypriots, British born Cypriots and expatriates. The village is on the main route through from the coast road to Kantara Castle and close to the new road that will reduce the driving time to Kyrenia considerably. Just a 35 minute drive to Ercan airport and only 25 minutes from Famagusta. Close by is Iskele beach, a long stretch of sandy beach within a 5 minute drive. Bogaz Harbour is less than ten minutes away and then you have the whole of the Karpaz peninsula to explore, pretty much at your doorstep. There are a number of good restaurants in the area including those at Bogaz Harbour.
