The Region

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is one of the few remaining “undiscovered” places of the Mediterranean. It has a diverse abundance of outstanding and unspoilt natural beauty from the crystal clear waters and golden sandy beaches to the heights of the pine clad mountains and Crusader Castles. The past three to four years has seen an increase in foreign investment where we have seen investors from Russia, Israel, Turkey and the UK buying into property, land and large scale developments. With prices around half of that in the south of the island the potential for growth is considerable and real.

The area of Bogaz, Iskele is situated at the foot of the Karpaz Peninsula an area of outstanding natural beauty. The region has strict regulations on development and is a protected wildlife sanctuary where rare turtles lay their eggs on the golden sandy beaches, in excess of 300 species of birds pass through every year as they fly along one of the main migratory routes. Wild flowers are in abundance and the landscape is distinct from the rest of the island. It offers a haven of tranquillity for those who wish to explore the ancient monuments, walk or cycle on the mountain tracks or just relax on the beautiful beaches.

The Village

Bogaz Iskele is a truly beautiful village situated at the foot of the Karpaz Peninsula you will still see the local fishermen ply their trade as they have for centuries past from the fishing harbour that is the focus point for this delightful village. Bogaz has a unique atmosphere that has bewitched countless tourists and many are now happily living here alongside the friendly locals having decided that this is the place to be. The harbour is ringed by many excellent restaurants and tavernas from which to choose and where the catch of the day is a popular choice. Costs of living in Bogaz are outstandingly affordable, with excellent fresh, reasonably priced food and drinks, often at half the price you find at other places in Cyprus and other Mediterranean destinations.
Many people simply fall in love with Bogaz whilst looking for their new home in North Cyprus. The village is blessed with many natural attractions but has managed to preserve its uniqueness and doesn’t suffocate its visitors with mass tourism. Local Cypriots mingle in harmony with Europeans and other nationalities, enjoying a cool drink, observing the activity around the working harbour and enjoying life as it should be. Boat trips are available from here, either to try your luck at fishing for your dinner or simply to relax and sunbathe and relax as you float upon the clear blue water of the Mediterranean Sea.
Bogaz is part of the urban district of Iskele and the nearby small town of that name offers a good range of services including shops, banks, medical facilities and so on. The major seaport and historic town of Famagusta is a short drive along the coast road and the airport at Ercan is an easy drive of about 30/45 minutes.
