Iskele/Bahceler is a much sought after community on the outskirts of the town Iskele
in Northern Cyprus. In the town of Iskele can be found many useful facilities including
two hospitals, one private and one government owned. Also there are a number of pharmacies
with a rota system ensuring at least one is available at all times in case of emergency.
The town has some excellent schools including a government owned school for children
aged from 5 to 16 years. There are several shops and banks in the town plus other
businesses such as hairdressers, garages and a vets practice.
There is an excellent modern supermarket on the outskirts of nearby Bogaz and the
village is famous for its very pretty setting and small working fishing harbour.
Around the harbour can be found a first class selection of restaurants and bars where

or watch the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean lap onto the beach. The area is
blessed with a number of sandy beaches and is well located to benefit from some exciting
developments that are either planned, under construction, or already completed.
About 7 miles north of is the new resort of Bafra. This is a truly spectacular development
of superb hotels with luxurious conference and holiday facilities centred around
an enormous reproduction of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus five star resort and
casino with a 2,500 bed capacity. This brings serious money to the region and reflects
the confidence that international investors have in Northern Cyprus. We confidently
predict that this “money magnet” will have a dramatic influence on the North Cyprus
property market and on the eastern side in particular.
Moving in a north easterly direction we are heading towards the fabulous Karpaz Peninsula.
This is a vast area of outstanding natural beauty that is fiercely protected by the
government from over development.
The scenic coastal road southwards from Iskele leads past the ancient ruins of Salamis
and on to the major town and seaport of Famagusta, a distance of about 14 miles.
This is an excellent road and this journey can be achieved quite quickly if necessary.
Most will prefer to enjoy a leisurely drive along the sea shore and will be rewarded
by the sight of the Mediterranean gently lapping the sun kissed beaches of Famagusta
Bay.
The town of Famagusta is really a “tale of two cities”. There is a modern part that
boasts numerous shops, banks, schools, medical facilities and so on, most requirements
for modern living in fact. Then there is the “Old Town”. To get into the old town
one enters via stone archways through the ancient city walls. Once inside you enter
a vast maze of narrow roads that are filled with many small shops, historical points
of interest and some excellent restaurants that will tempt you with the aromas of
Turkish Cypriot dishes or well prepared European cuisine if that is your preference.
The town is home to the Eastern Mediterranean University which has something like
15,000 students and lecturers on the campus. This provides a potential pool of possible
year round tenants for those interested in buying property with rental income in
mind or as a full time letting business.
