THEREGION
The Kyrenia, (Girne), area of Northern Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations for both holidaymakers and for those wishing to settle here. There is a wealth of European Heritage Sites spanning some 9,000 years of history, from Gothic churches and Crusader castles, to ancient Roman and Greek temples, ruined abbeys and old British colonial buildings. The Venetian built harbour in Kyrenia, reputed to be the finest in the Mediterranean, is lined with restaurants and pavement cafes. The harbour is currently used largely for pleasure craft, and the buildings are now mostly all restaurants, with outdoor tables along the water. THE VILLAGE
The village is situated just 3 miles East of Kyrenia, one of the prettiest villages in Northern Cyprus and is home to a small but truly multi national population. The residents of the village have been drawn by the peace and tranquillity of the setting, the beautiful and preserved natural environment around the village and the friendly welcoming nature of the local Turkish Cypriot people. The village itself is interwoven with olive, carob and lemon trees for which the area is famous. In the springtime the village is alive with pretty blossoms, in the winter it is aglow with citrus fruits and in the summer it basks in the beautiful Mediterranean sunshine. The village is located on the edge of the Kyrenia mountain range. From here you have one of the best views of Bellapais Abbey as it perches seemingly precariously high above the village on a natural plinth on the mountainside. At night time when the Abbey is all lit up it’s a favourite sight for visitors and residents. There are a number of fine restaurants and bars in the locality attracting locals and visitors alike.
