The Region
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is one of the few remaining “undiscovered” places of the Mediterranean. The region has strict regulations on development and is a protected wildlife sanctuary where rare turtles lay their eggs on the golden sandy beaches, in excess of 300 species of birds pass through every year as they fly along one of the main migratory routes. Wild flowers are in abundance and the landscape is distinct from the rest of the island. It offers a haven of tranquillity for those who wish to explore the ancient monuments, walk or cycle on the mountain tracks or just relax on the beautiful beaches.
Bafra – New Resort hotels
Investments made jointly from the private sector and the government in the Bafra region are designed to boost tourism in the area. Plans for no less than 16 five star hotels, a shopping centre and enlarged desalination facilities will make this into the ‘Las Vegas’ of the Eastern Mediterranean’. The hotels will be designed along various themes with such names as The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Coliseum, The Kaya Artimis, Noah’s Ark etc. The 750 bed Kaya Artemis is already completed as is the Noah’s Ark Hotel, both are impressive and it certainly makes a statement about the future of tourism in this part of Northern Cyprus. New roads are being built to reduce the travel time from both Kyrenia and Famagusta to this region which can only enhance potential return on investment.
As if that were not enough the new Karpaz Gate Marina is now open and operational. Located just north of the village of Yeni Erenkoy . It is large enough for 350 plus vessels, including Super Yachts of over 65 meters. Restrictions on sailing along the territorial waters of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have now been lifted which means yachts will sail to this new and almost only available berthing spot in the Eastern Mediterranean. This will further add value to properties and investments in the area and act as a money magnet with the super rich bringing their yachts and wanting to explore the region.
Developing

The setting is in an unspoilt part of the peninsular yet within fairly easy reach of other places of interest.. The stunning Karpaz gate Marina less than 20 minutes away and to the north the magnificent beaches of the Karpaz itself. Travel further south and you will be rewarded by relaxing by the harbour at Bogaz and a must see is the ruins of ancient Salamis and of course the heritage contained within the walls of Famagusta old city. Road improvements will mean a new road through from Kyrenia along the north coast to Dipkarpaz should be completed by next year.
