The Property

The centre of attraction for this wonderful garden is the pool area, the main roman end pool is a generous 10m x 4.5m with steps down for easy access, and the plunge pool is 3m across with steps down and a seating ledge. During construction of the main pool, pipe work was incorporated for connection to the solar panels at a later date.

A gardener’s delight, stone walls surround this mature garden which is intersected with paths and terraces on several levels, with a gazebo at the far end of the garden. The entire garden including the pool is fitted with low energy lighting. The garden is planted with an array of colourful shrubs, mature fruit trees totaling 15 varieties, grape vines, nut trees, olive trees and palms, there is also a small Banana plantation. A restored garden well feeds a 20 ton storage tank which in turn feeds the irrigation system.

Annual lopping of trees provides sufficient wood for the sitting room fire throughout the winter months.

The Villages

Ilgaz

Ilgaz village is hardly visible from the low land, isolated buildings appear and disappear as you travel along the road, you reach the village after a three km climb from the coast. A beautiful mountain village it is a peaceful and quiet location, with easy access to the mountain paths for walking and the main road to Kyrenia and the coastline. Hidden in the mountains the village of Igaz enjoys stunning views of scented pine forests, ancient olive groves and the Mediterranean Sea beyond. This is a true haven of peace and tranquility, a lovely village with 40 dwellings dotted with traditional stone houses, with their small yards and gardens hiding in the lush green of the hillside.

The Region

The Kyrenia, (Girne), area of Northern Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations for both holidaymakers and for those wishing to settle here. There is a wealth of European Heritage Sites spanning some 9,000 years of history, from Gothic churches and Crusader castles, to ancient Roman and Greek temples, ruined abbeys and old British colonial buildings. The Venetian built harbour in Kyrenia, reputed to be the finest in the Mediterranean, is lined with restaurants and pavement cafes - a great place to people and yacht watch!

 

 

 

Located in the west of Kyrenia the area affords stunning views of the highest mountain in the Besparmak mountain range. Karsiyaka has a range of shops and some good fish restaurants located close to the waters edge. A large sandy bay is a 5 minute drive away and there are many more sandy beaches between Karsiyaka and Kyrenia. Nearby , Lapta has a big ex-pat community and a large selection of shops and restaurants
