The Region

Kyrenia, (Girne), area of Northern Cyprus is one of the most popular destinations for both holidaymakers and for those wishing to settle here. There is a wealth of European Heritage Sites spanning some 9,000 years of history, from Gothic churches and Crusader castles, to ancient Roman and Greek temples, ruined abbeys and old British colonial buildings. The Venetian built harbour in Kyrenia, reputed to be the finest in the Mediterranean, is lined with restaurants and pavement cafes

There are many beaches and sandy coves scattered around the coast. Club Acapulco and Escape Beach Club have plenty to offer, both have bar/restaurant facilities, and the Turtle Beach at Alagadi brings visitors every year to witness the rare sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. The Korineum Golf and Country Club is just on the outskirts of town offering a championship standard 18 hole par 72 course. There is also a driving range and academy with full length practice holes. The historical sites of Bellapais Abbey and St. Hilarion castle are a must for visitors.

The Area

The up and coming village of Alsancak is located just 6 miles west of the centre of Kyrenia. The village certainly has much to offer those who are looking to re-locate to this lovely part of Cyprus. There is a wide variety of restaurants offering both local and international cuisine and a choice of several supermarkets and all other amenities. The village centre itself has some excellent restaurants and bars. The British Academy is also located here, (formerly Sunny Lane School). All this and some spectacular mountain and sea views an authentic village atmosphere and easy access to the local beaches and restaurants. Just a few minutes drive to the local municipality beach and the main coastal road. Not far away is the new by pass junction making for fast and easy access to both Kyrenia and Nicosia.
